Birthday Celebrations, Pizza and Cute Girls in Pink!

Do I win the prize for most boring blogger ever this week? A medal perhaps? My blog is about as exciting as NBC’s Olympic coverage….

Yesterday, we had the honor of making our main guy feel like King of His Mountain! It was Birthentine’s Day! The boys and I were up early, sprucing up the place and making a yummy breakfast of homemade biscuits with lemon curd, sausage patties and OJ. A nice change from our standard weekly fare of cereal!

I did something fun this year to show my family that I think they are pretty special! I cut out lots of pink and red hearts, 4 each for the kiddos and 8 for Ben, and wrote on each of theirs something I love about them. I taped the first one by their beds so they would see them first thing, put on on the wall coming downstairs, one at each place at the table and one little one in the boys’ lunch boxes. Eliana’s were a little lower so she could find them; even one on Baby Anna! Ben’s I hid all around the house, like on his desk or on his coffee grinder, a sure place for him to look:)

They all really enjoyed it!

Here is our littlest Valentine, checking out her hearts:)

I loved her outfit and braids yesterday! She was very Valentine-y.

She moved her hearts all around the house all day:)

The kiddos worked very hard on a “Happy B-day Daddy” sign and were very excited to surprise Daddy with it!

So colorful!

The boys hung up all of the streamers:) We had pink from when Eliana was born and red from Z’s party last year.

Later in the morning, Ben got suckered into playing with Eliana’s dollhouse by a cute little 3 year old:)

They worked hard to set up all the furniture!

Hard to resist a little girl with purple glasses and beautiful blond braids!

Oh and the dimple doesn’t help either:)

Giving me the stink eye! She thought she was pretty funny!

We presented our guy with a pizza stone for his birthday, something he has been wanted in hopes of perfecting our homemade pizza! He was really happy about it and is about to use it for the first time tonight.

The reason we didn’t have our Friday night pizza is because I treated Ben to lasagna last night! I wasn’t sure I was going to do it but I know it is one of his favorite meals and they do say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach…..

He was thrilled to pieces! He and Zakkai, I should say. They share the same hearty appetites and often like the exact same things:) Eliana declared the “Tasagna” good! I wasn’t sure if she would even try it, having an unpredictable 3 year old appetite but she did! She thinks it’s “telicious!” ha;) I feasted on salad and breadsticks. Yum. I tried a specially cheese-less tiny corner piece of the lasagna just to be a good sport. I’m pretty sure my taste buds will not change on this one but the sauce was delicious!

We finished our evening with ice cream sundaes and a movie. A nice quiet night! Now tonight, we’ll see if we can bring our pizza to a whole new level….

Friday Nights!

We love our Friday nights around here! It signifies another (hopefully) successful week completed, the beginning of a relaxing (also hopefully:) weekend together and last but not least, it’s our faithful pizza night! And we make a mean pizza, if we don’t say so ourselves!

Last night we added some game playing to our pizza night! We pulled out my long-term childhood favorite game of Life, which the boys adore and played a rousing game while waiting for and devouring our yummy pizza. We all loved it so much that we’re thinking of making game playing a weekly tradition, too!

We finished off our night with a delicious treat, which I am most definitely passing on! Snickerdoodle Blondies. (click on it for the link!) Served with vanilla ice cream. Yum and yum again! If you like snickerdoodle cookies, you will love these!! Enjoy.

Friday’s List

* Another beautiful sunny day here! Z was begging to play outside by 830am:)

*Made it through solo half day #3 this week! One big solo day to come tomorrow….I’m nervous!

*Eliana is finally forgiving me for my lack of mommy-ness for a few weeks. She is loving being around me, calling me “Mama” and snuggling lots!

*I have a love/hate relationship with March Madness. I’ve never ever cared for basketball until I joined the annual family brackets for the first time last year. And here it is again and I remember now why I love and hate it! I get too emotionally invested:) Darn upsets!!

*We surprised Z this afternoon by using a little bit of his birthday money to buy him a scooter, since he didn’t get much for his bday. He was SOOOO happy! It has red handles and light up wheels:)

*Missy looked like a beautiful cornflower today in her blue dress and flower hair clip:) She got lots of compliments when we were out today.

*She also threw a toddler tantrum in the store when she had to be picked up b/c it was time to go. It didn’t last but a minute. Love that she’s at the age where distraction is so easy!!

*Samuel came home from school today and said, “Mommy, guess what?! At school today our room was a mess! A leprechaun snuck into our room and leprechaun’s a really messy. There was even a footprint on my desk! It left a piece of gold for all of us. But it’s not real gold, see? (holds up green fake gold piece). Mommy, are leprechaun’s real?”

*Tried to put my baby to bed for the first time in 5 weeks. I ended up in tears while rocking and reading to her because it’s so frustrating to not be able to do what I want and need to do. It takes so long to do everything and B had to come help get her dressed because let’s just say that things started to fall apart.

I never would’ve guessed I would be at this point over a month after surgery. This week I felt so hopeful that I was finally going down to one crutch and feeling like I’d be walking next week. I ended up back on 2 crutches last night and part of today because I overdid things and paid for it. I know I am making lots of progress but…

I’ll never taking walking for granted again.

*We seriously make the best homemade pizza I’m not boasting, it’s true! Okay, I’m boasting. It is AWESOME. We’ve come up with a new secret ingredient that just puts the pizza, which we’ve been perfecting for a few years, over the edge. Wow. Come on over and try it!

*One of the highlights of today? Buying…..Girl Scout Cookies!!! Mmmm! It’s been years and years since I have had some and I looked it up last week and realized they were selling some at a local store this afternoon so we stopped by on our way home. The girl scout was THE cutest little girl and she had pink glasses:) Her mom said she just loves her glasses and has since she was a baby. Girl Scout won me over by saying, “Are you going to buy cookies?? You’re pretty!!” Charming:)

*Happy Friday!
